The eight physically and developmentally disabled residents of the Tom McKay Center in Bardstown have quietly separated lives.

Joy was the first resident to move into the McKay Center when it opened in 1981 and still lives there with seven roommates, none of whom have been there as long as her.

Bobby can be seen through the CD case she works to assemble at Nelson County Industries. Although the work is repetitive, the residents of the Tom McKay Center report here every weekday and earn minimum wage.
