David Dennis changes from office casual to country farmer after work. "Hardest thing to do is changing clothes," Dennis said. "I swear clothes weren't made for people who can't stand."

David Dennis enjoys a routine. He wakes up at 5:30 a.m. and arrives at work around 7 a.m., an hour before most of his co-workers arrive. "I like coming in early 'cause I been doin' it for 30 years,'' he said. "My mind's a little crisper in the morning."

David Dennis snuggles eye-to-eye with his Border Collie, Cedro, before heading off to work in the morning. Cedro and Brownie, a mixed-breed, are the closest thing to children the Dennis family has. He thought about adopting children, but now that he's 50-years-old, David has decided he's too old for kids.

Two months before the car crash that left him a paraplegic, David Dennis married his wife, Kathy. Their marriage has lasted 18 years. "We've been through everything under the sun together," Kathy said. "You just kind of work through each thing as it comes. If you don't, then you got trouble.''

After a long day, David Dennis dozes while watching T.V. He and his wife, Kathy, often fall asleep in the living room before heading to bed.

"This has been by my desk for 18 years, and if I have anything to do with it, it's going to stay there the rest of my life," David Dennis said. Dennis received the card from his wife, Kathy, shortly after his auto accident. "She was real nervous about giving it to me so soon," he said, "But to me ... it's special."
