Eric Adams, 6, listens to his mother, Barbara, read from the "Children's Story Bible" as part of the family's tradition of starting each day with a devotional. "It's one of our home-schooling priorities to build a godly character," she said.

Barbara Adams plays catch with her son, Eric "Derek Jeter" Adams, 4. "We started calling him that because he just loves baseball and he's got an arm," Barbara Adams said.

While picking wildflowers with her son, Isaac, Barbara Adams' husband returns home from work at his dentist practice and greets his son with a shoulder ride up to the house. Barbara and David rarely have any time together without the children with them, but they wouldn't have it any other way. "They're part of us," David said.
