Beth Hume talks to client Margaret Speray during a home visit. "I let them tell me stories about themselves, even though I may have already heard them or I know they are made up," she said. "It just gives them someone to talk with."
Beth Hume shares a laugh with Dora Sears, a former co-worker. Hume, who is in charge of Home Care at the Anderson County Senior Citizens Center, says the fact that she used to know Sears makes it difficult to care for her now. "She sees little men in her house," Hume said. "She knows that they are not real and we can't see them, but she sees them."
Beth Hume and her dog, Princess Mia, take a walk after a long day of work. After most of her children left home, Hume got Princess Mia. "I just love being a caregiver, I guess," Hume said. "Weather it's my children, clients or my dog."
